How to measure a door for replacement

When measuring a door for replacement, it is important to take precise measurements to ensure the new door fits properly. One way to do this is to measure the width of the door at three points – the top, middle, and bottom. By doing so, you can determine the shortest measurement and use that as the width of the door.

Next, measure the height of the door from the top of the doorframe to the bottom at the left, center, and right sides of the door. In this case, the longest measurement should be used as the height of the door.

Aside from height and width, it’s important to measure the thickness of the door at both the handle and hinge edges. Pay close attention to the door’s swing orientation and consider if it opens inwards or outwards to determine the direction of the new door.

Lastly, it’s important to note any additional features on the existing door like pre-installed locks or peepholes. Don’t forget to make sure the replacement door is prepped accordingly. By taking these steps, you can ensure that your replacement door fits perfectly and operates smoothly.
